Fandango At The Wall
Follow Arturo O'Farrill and Kabir Sehga, Multi Grammy award-winners as they get ready to record a live album at the American-Mexican border wall.
The project is inspired by Fandango Fronterizo, the annual festival which brings together people from both sides of the Tijuana-San Diego border. This festival features son jarocho, a 300-year-old folk music tradition. Before recording, Jorge Francisco Castillo, festival's organizer, takes O’Farrill and Sehgal on a tour to Veracruz, Mexico, the place where this mix of indigenous, Spaniard and African musical traditions was born. While traveling, they come across legendary son jarocho musicians and recruite participants for the next festival.
Their trips and the annual celebration promote peace and unity. From executive producers Quincy Jones, Andrew Young, Carlos Santana and Kabir Sehgal, the film introduces the beauty of regional music through intimate interviews and captivating footage of the concerts. Directed by Varda Bar-Kar.
